Bartholin's retention cyst
Indolent cysts originating from the Bartholin glands (vaginal atrial glands).
The cause is a transfer of the duct of a Bartholin's gland, often as a result of Bartholinitis.
Skin-coloured, sharply defined, bulgingly elastic, hemispherical knot. It is important to distinguish the disease from hidradenitis suppurativa, which also affects other intertriginous areas.
Clinic
Biopsy, if necessary
Inner edge of the labia in the middle/lower third of the vulva.
If an inflammation of the excretory duct occurs, this is called bartholinitis.
