ICD11: -

Subtype of perioral dermatitis showing multiple follicularly bound papules and pustules up to 2mm in size.

As with perioral dermatitis, not infancy.

Instead of the pure inflammatory reaction via the occlusion as in POD, contamination with bacteria (components) seems to play a role in this variety of the disease.

Perioral, affects (like POD) the vellus hair bearing areas. This is why the free 1-2mm wide margin develops.

Granulomas with epithelial iodine cells and giant cells in the follicles, otherwise non-specific inflammatory infiltrate.

  • Therapy like POD
    • Complete cessation of presumptive causative cosmetics and anti-inflammatory therapy.
    • Ban steroids.
