Acne infantum

Acneiform lesions appearing in infants (M > F) between 3-6 months of age.

  • Unclear.
  • Possibly testosterone release from the gonads.

Papules, pustules, comedones, partly also inflammatory nodules.

  • Anamnesis.
  • Clinical appearance.

No therapy needed.

 

In persistent cases, topical treatment, as in adults:

Topical therapy:

  • Skinoren
  • Benzoyl peroxide
  • Clindamycin

If there is persistence of findings with topical therapy:

  • Erythromycin 2x 125 mg p.o.
