Definition

Spongiotic dermatitis of the anus.

Etiopathogenesis

Clinical features

Erythematous, sometimes confluent, often very pruritic papules in the area of the anus.

Diagnosis

Anamnesis (atopy, use of wet wipes, hygiene)
Clinic
Epicutaneous testing, if necessary,
Atopy testing, if necessary
If necessary, biopsy in case of resistance to therapy and suspicion of extramammary Paget's disease
Candida smear, if necessary

Localization

Anal/Perianal.

Complications

Secondary colonisation with Candida albicans.

Therapy

Eliminating the cause, if possible.
Short-term topical class III steroids.
In the course, application of e.g. Protopic® – ointment.

Liquor carbonis detergens (Helps some patients a lot, but local irritation may occur. The smell is distressing for many patients
